Biomedical Materials Engineer

The role of Biomedical Materials Engineer is an exciting and diverse opportunity to help drive our successful company’s rapid growth and be a contributing and instrumental member of an experienced Engineering team. Our award winning company is seeking a Biomedical Materials Engineer to further expand our customized tubing and single use assemblies used with our advanced sterile filling machines. A successful candidate will be a subject mater expert capable of delivering on assigned projects while offering technical support to R&D, service, supply chain and quality teams as required. They will utilize their expertise in biomedical materials and attention to detail to capture requirements, then develop and document a library of standard components that can be configured into assemblies to meet our customers’ unique needs.

Responsibilities

  • Define, design and document single use sterile filling parts and assemblies
  • Prepare specifications and create process documentation
  • Coordinate with internal resources, suppliers and customers to ensure end products meet required specifications 
  • Partner with Quality Control to meet regulatory compliance and improve quality assurance
  • Lead improvement initiatives to further the development of the supply chain
  • Collaborate with Project Engineering and R&D to improve overall system performance and ensure system reliability
  • Act as a subject matter expert developing a knowledge base to be used across the organization
  • Adhere to and provide active support to company policies and procedures
  • Support other key company initiatives as required

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Materials Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
  • Experience working with 2D and 3D CAD 
  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of materials used in medical devices and their manufacturing processes
  • Expertise in medical tubing (biocompatibility and mechanical properties) 
  • Experience working with-in a collaborative deadline driven team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of process engineering and automated industrial systems an asset
  • Experience with Pharma regulations is an asset
  • Experience with product family development is an asset
