Control Systems Engineer/Technologist (multiple positions available)

We seek versatile Control Systems Engineers or Technologists to enhance our current and future generations of automated pharmaceutical clean room equipment. This role includes hands-on systems level integration of robots, data analysis and software development, and involves close interaction with mechanical, electrical, software, test, and manufacturing engineering functions. Vanrx Pharmasystems makes the most technologically advanced sterile filling solutions for the pharmaceutical industry. Vanrx fill/finish machines use isolated robotics and machine vision to automate the packaging of injectable drugs into nested vials, syringes or cartridges. The company was founded by pharmaceutical industry veterans to create the systems needed to make the next generation of innovative therapies.



  • Design and develop software programs (mainly PLC) for complex automation systems to meet customer and project requirements.
  • System integration and associated verification and troubleshooting activities.
  • Maintain accurate design and verification documents.
  • Assist mechanical and shop teams during the build phase.
  • Debug and commission control systems at our facility, during the system integration stage and at customer sites during installation.
  • Travel as required to customer and supplier sites to perform installation, commissioning and training duties.
  • Select, test and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems and lasers.
  • Support R&D prototype development and test activities.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time to customer sites.


Skills and Experience Required

  • A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent; specializing in electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics.
  • One to five years of programming in a PLC environment (Allen-Bradley) preferably on factory automation equipment. Experience with Wonderware InTouch software will be an asset.
  • Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem solving skills – experience with languages such as C/C++ an asset.
  • Experience with data acquisition and data historians.
  • Experience with industrial networking considered an asset.
  • Understanding of robotics, control systems, and machine operation with hands-on experience is desirable.
  • Experience working in regulated industries and environments. GAMP experience considered a bonus.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
