Mechanical Designer

The role of Mechanical Designer is an exciting and diverse opportunity to help drive our successful company’s rapid growth and be a contributing and instrumental member of an experienced Production Engineering team. Our award winning company is seeking a Mechanical Designer for our Production Engineering Department to develop, verify, and maintain the design of our advanced filling solutions. This position involves close interaction with planning, quality, research and development, electrical/mechanical engineering, control systems engineering and manufacturing teams. Exceptional communication skills, technical competency and problem solving skills are key requirements for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Create mechanical and electrical products by creating 3D CAD models using Solidworks
  • Create detailed 2D part and assembly drawings of products in Solidworks
  • Maintain and verify bill of materials (BOM) in PDM and ERP Systems
  • Execute engineering change orders
  • Review engineering drawings of peers
  • Create work instructions for manufacturing
  • Participate in vendor and/or customer projects
  • Contributes to the overall success of the company by accomplishing related results where required

Required Skills and Experience

  • Advanced experience in 3D CAD modelling and 2D detailed drawings
  • Expert level knowledge of tolerancing and GD&T
  • Experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Experience in regulated industries (Pharma, Food, Aerospace) is an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Three or more years of experience in mechanical design drafting with a certificate, diploma, or equivalent experience
