Vanrx introduces the Dynamic Peristaltic Pump

Pump helps biopharma companies bring advanced therapies to patients.

“The required dosage for many advanced therapies is very low—sometimes 0.5 mL or less. Getting the highest yield from your batch is essential, since each additional dosage treats another patient. Current and future customers will be able to serve their patients better thanks to the new Dynamic Peristaltic Pump,” explains Chris Procyshyn, CEO and co-founder of Vanrx.

The Dynamic Peristaltic Pump offers a 10x improvement in variability versus conventional peristaltic pumps. Accuracy is equivalent to rotary piston technologies, but without the associated particle risk. The Dynamic Peristaltic Pump provides the gentle treatment of shear-sensitive drug products for which peristaltic pumps are known.

The pump’s accuracy level extends down to less than 0.1 mL—addressing a notable weakness of conventional peristaltic pumps losing accuracy at or below 1.0 mL. That filling threshold is important to low fill-volume dosages such as gene therapies and ophthalmic pre-filled syringes.

Users of the pump will be able to reduce overfill parameters and achieve higher batch yields.

Vanrx achieved these process capability improvements by combining mechanical and software design to enable the pump to dynamically adjust for greater fill accuracy.

Global CDMO FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies is the first customer to use the new pump. It is equipped on their second SA25 Aseptic Filling Workcell, installed at their College Station, Texas manufacturing site.
